Ruhi’s Birthday!
You read that right. Today was Ruhi’s birthday. Happy Birthday Ruhi!
After waking up and leisurely getting ready we grabbed a taxi out to Cafe Nucallacta prior to the Turtle Travel Club lunch being held next door. We relaxed with a Japanese Iced Coffee and Amazing Dirty Chai Latte.

As we paid the check, we chatted a bit with the owner about why they closed down the other location (last year during the blackouts and because of the recession in Ecuador) and why his Chai is so good (better cinnamon, apparently). But then we headed a couple doors down to one of our favorite Ecuadorian restaurants.
Lunch with Turtles at Warmikuna
You’ll recall from last week that we had eaten here already on this trip. But the food is so good it is worth a repeat visit.

This lunch was part of our Turtle Travel Club leap so we joined the rest of the group for delightful conversations and delicious grub. I took a lot of pictures, and most of them are pretty self-explanatory, so I’ll just put them here by category for you to enjoy.

Delicious Food
A few pics of the delicious and amazing food we had around the table.

It turns out that you can take cooking classes on Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Warmikuna. So, if you’re in town and want to learn how to make amazing Ecuadorian food, and then eat it, be sure to check it out!
Back at the Crib
Many of the Turtles headed out to walk down the street to check out a mercado and the Rotary Plaza. But Ruhi and I had a few things to take care of back home so we grabbed a cab and made our way along Simon Bolivar Street to the apartment.

The rest of the day was spent, at first, watching a bit of TV (Arrested Development!) to decompress, and then preparing some work. Ruhi was preparing for a Therapeutic Art session (click here to learn more) and I was working on this blog and some other work-related stuff.
I also did a bit of work on my ceramic bowl to try and clean it up a bit. Still a lot to do, so I might try to get a bit more done tomorrow. However, we’ll be out most of the day so that might have to wait until Wednesday.
Finally, here is the song for today. Of course, it is birthday themed. 🙂
Today’s Song: Happy Birthday Ruhi!
Lyrics:
It’s today! (It’s today!)
Yes! Yes, it’s today!
It’s your birthday! (It’s your birthday!)
Yeah, your birthday! (Happy Birthday)
Chorus
Happy Birthday! (Oh, happy birthday!)
Happy birthday Ruhi!
It’s your birthday! (It’s today!)
Happy birthday Ruhi!
October 20 and time to cheer
The day of your birth is finally here
It only comes one day a year
It’s your birthday! Hear hear!
A Turtle lunch. Time to holler!
Warmikuna Cochina Taller
Traditional Ecuadorian cuisine
Some of the best we’ve ever seen
Chorus x 2
Taxi home, to the apartment
Process photos from the event
Watch some TV. Relax a while.
Plan some plans. Smile some smiles.
Refine ceramic sculptures again
The day of art just won’t end
Do some work. Eat some food.
Early to bed. All is good.
Here in Ecuador. Hearts feeling full.
Feliz cumpleaños. 生日去爱了。
it’s the same wherever you go,
お誕生日おめでとう!
Chorus x 2
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Ruhi!
It’s your birthday!
Happy birthday Ruhi!
