Part 1: Getting to Cuenca and Settling In
Our flights to Ecuador, meeting up with friends in Quito and Cuenca, and our initial few days after arriving.
- Day 1 – Austin to Quito
The first day of our trip to Ecuador, flying from Austin to Houston to Quito and our AirBnb. - Day 2 – Seeing Friends in Quito

Part 2: Our second Week in Cuenca
The start of the Turtle Travel Club Leap and our various activities during our second week in Cuenca, Ecuador.
- Days 6 and 7 – Leaping with Turtles
The first two days of the Turtle Travel Club “leap” to slow travel with new friends in Cuenca - Day 8 – Doctor’s Visit and Tai Chi
On this day I had an appointment to see a doctor followed by cafe hopping and Tai Chi - Day 9 – San Bartolome, Chordeleg and Gualaceo
A day-long excursion with fellow Turtles to artisanal craft centers south-east of Cuenca - Days 10 to 12 – End of the Week
The end of week 2 in Ecuador and we spent some time doing Tai Chi, working and attending Bahá’í Feast
Part 3: Wrapping up our time in Cuenca
The last week of the Turtle Travel Club Leap and we start wrapping things up in Cuenca, Ecuador.
- Day 13 – Tai Chi and Ceramics
Tai Chi class in the morning, and a Ceramics workshop too! It’s time for art! - Day 14 – Happy Birthday Ruhi!

Two more days filled with my Doctor, working, Tai Chi and the Twin Holy Days. - Days 17 and 18 – Last Days of the Leap

Part 4: Leaving Cuenca and returning to Austin via Quito
Our last days in Ecuador as we head back to Austin, Texas.
- Days 19 and 20 – Goodbye Leap, Hello Centro
Goodbye to the Turtles and hello to our new AirBnb in Centro. Tai Chi and Ceramics with Maestro too. - Day 21 – Goodbye Cuenca, Hello Quito!
Leaving Cuenca and spending the day at Quito Airport before our flight to the U.S. - Day 22 – Quito to Houston to Austin
Red eye flights from Quito to Houston and a short connection to Austin. We’re back!
